The Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program (CKLDP) proudly welcomes its 2026 cohort, a distinguished group of 16 scholars from diverse firms and institutions across the DC metro area. These leaders have been selected for their dedication to the profession and their ability to drive meaningful change within the architecture and design industry.
This year, the program is led by new co-chairs Dorris Hwang and June Zhu, who will guide the scholars through an intensive eight-month journey focused on leadership, collaboration, and professional growth. The program launched with an engaging bootcamp introduced by CKLDP co-founder Sean Stadler, FAIA, LEED AP. Then, Dorris and June presented the structure of CKLDP to the scholars and explained the responsibilities they will take on.
Over the next eight months, they will be at the helm, planning and leading a series of dynamic sessions covering key topics that shape the future of the AEC industry:
Leading Together
Community Engagement
Tackling Climate Change
Business Development & Entrepreneurship
Emerging Opportunities & Technologies
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Art of Negotiation
Expanding the Definition of Architectural Practice
To kick off the program, each scholar introduced themselves through a Pecha Kucha-style presentation. This exercise not only set the stage for personal reflection but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the scholars.
Yiselle Santos, AIA, SHRM-SCP, NCARB, a CKLDP alumni, wrapped up the session with an inspiring keynote talk. Her journey through CKLDP and beyond provided personal and valuable insights into the journey of leadership development, encouraging the cohort to embrace their authentic selves, empower and lift up others around them, and face challenges with courage.
With a strong foundation established, the 2026 scholars will engage in meaningful discussions with industry leaders and shape their professional trajectories. As they take ownership of the program, they will not only strengthen their own leadership skills but also contribute to the broader architectural community by fostering dialogue, innovation, and impact.
